According to the Ministerial Decree 455/2024, issued by the Ministry of Labour & Social Insurance, all employers in Cyprus are obliged to register the essential terms of employment for all their existing and new employees in the “ERGANI” electronic information system of the Social Insurance Department by the 28th of February 2025.

Specifically, based on the Ministerial Decree, the essential conditions for registration in the “ERGANI” electronic system are the following:

  • Employer details
  • For retail businesses, the type of business
  • Employee details
  • Employer’s registered office
  • Place of work as per the employment contract and actual workplace at the time of registration
  • Job description and employee’s specialization
  • Employment start date
  • Employment end date for fixed-term contracts
  • For temporary employment businesses, the details of the indirect employer
  • Terms and duration of the probationary period
  • Duration of annual leave and method of allocation
  • Salary/Wages, frequency of payment (daily/weekly/monthly/hourly)
  • Working hours of a standard workday/week
  • Indication if the employee’s schedule is unpredictable
  • Other benefits/allowances, commissions, cost-of-living allowance, etc.

This Decree has been issued pursuant to Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions Law of 2023 (N. 25(I)/2023) and one of its key objectives is to ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and to combat undeclared work, which creates a multitude of problems.
